The only thing I would take issue with is the characterization of the Classic Spendors as "extremely colored". By that standard about 75% - 80% of the box speakers in $1K -$3K range are "extremely colored". Both the Harbeths and the Spendors have a personality. The Harbeths are more clinical and the Spendors more romantic.

The Maggies are wonderful speakers but they do take a relatively robust amp to drive them properly especially for rock, dub and electronica. They also need about 4'+ of space behind them.

Mr Blue Sky, you need to pony up more information about your (real) budget, room and what you intend to drive these speakers with if you want to get any additional advice of any quality. You already have multiple, excellent (and consistent) characterizations of these speakers that (coupled with Bob Neill's reviews) that are only going be fleshed out by personal auditioning. Since you apparently have the opportunity to hear both speakers and given that neither speaker is close to $1K these posts are starting to sound a bit more like wanking than a serious speaker quest.
