Come on, resistor burn in

75.11.63.98

I cannot believe a resistor requires more than a few minutes to burn in. A month gives time for you to forget what they sounded like to start with.
I considered changing my S2 to S3, but like you am happy with them. Afraid going to S3 from a working S2 is a step in the wrong direction.
The dulling may be aging in the original crossover caps. Try replacing these first. Or try a faster amplifier. They definately are critical of amp power delivery.
