Need help in setting up speakers in squarish room - 12'x14'

Hi,
I have a spare room , size of 12' x 14' and in consider this as a squarish room. I have tried many ways, but none of them give me the best sound i like (lack of bass, for example). Then, i look at cardas website and i see the setup for square room:

However, i don't understand why the measurement is not the same for both site : (quoted)
Golden Rectangles, 1.618 (side wall) x 1 (rear wall) on one side and 1 (side wall) x 1.618 (rear wall) create diagonal lines for speaker placement in a square room.

Does anyone have the same room and what is your setup? Have you ever tried the Cardas method for this type of room?
