Re: Anybody heard the Paradigm studio 100 v3's?

The only Stereophile review of a Paradigm Studio version 3 I have seen is for the Paradigm Studio 40, v. 3, and that review was by Kalman Robinson for the December 2004 issue, although the technical measurements were done by John Atkinson. Mr. Robinson was quite enthusiastic. The URL follows:

There are reviews of the Studio 20, v. 3, and the Studio 100, v. 3, on Soundstage.com, and the link below is to the browse list for the speaker review archive.

I heard the Studio 100, v. 3 briefly last spring, and it sounded pretty good, but I suspect it would sound better farther away. At the time, I wanted to listen mostly to the more expensive Signature S8, which I thought was outstanding.

Recently, I heard the Studio 40, v. 3, at more length using 47 Laboratories electronics, if anyone is interested in that. They sounded quite nice. Of course, a crossover so low, their dispersion was excellent and so was their imaging, which was very wide. They sounded just the slightest bit tizzy on the top and had a little bit of roughness on the upper strings, not enough to spoil my enjoyment of the music. So, a very good speaker, though I am not quite as enthusiastic about it as Kalman Robinson is about the Studio 60, which should sound very similar with deeper bass.

So, I would suggest you definitely put some of the Paradigm Reference Series speakers on your audition list, but I would listen to other speakers as well.
