I am setting up a HT area, and have a problem with center channel placement. I will be using a projector with a ceiling screen. There is no place to put a center channel speaker below or behind the screen (there's a bookcase and entertainment center built into the wall from floor to ceiling). My plan at present is to go with a phantom center, but I recognize the possibility that I may not be wholly satisfied with this solution. So, it seems that my only option is a center channel in the ceiling. I know this is less than ideal, but I can't see a way around it (although I'm happy to entertain ideas).
Anyway, is this worth pursuing, and if so, any recommendations on a speaker to use as a center channel in my ceiling? I will be using Magnepans for the fronts and surrounds, and probably either SVS or Hsu sub. I mostly listen to music, so the center will be used sparingly, and need not be top-of-the-line. I'd like to spend as little as possible, with a maximum budget of $400. Thanks.Greg
