for the Confidence C4

This is an excellent speaker. It has the best virtues of the best speakers I've heard to date. Speed, excellent off-axis response, and so on, it's all there.

What makes it NOT among my top favorites is the fact that typically Dynaudio voices their speakers with flat bass response, as if listeners typically listen anaechoic. This means that they need significant clearance from walls to avoid boominess. This also means that the C4 requires a room bigger than typically required by competing models. In a large room, however, bass was taut and had no overhang, albeit still prominent.

Compared to my faves...

I find the C4's midrange was not as rich as the Signature 800's, and was closer to the Revel Salon's character. Both the B&W's and Revel's treble sounded more brilliant and forceful, resulting in more forward perspective than with the Dynaudio.
