Hi,I have owned both. In fact, I still have the Response 2, I've had a pair on and off for 10 years. In my opinion, the original 2 is more robust, dynamic and fun to listen to. The 2S has the port to the rear and the bass may be slightly more extended and smoother, but in making these improvements they also took away some of the things the speaker does best: kick butt on just about any kind of music you throw at it without making you think you're listening to an "audiophile" speaker. The 2S has a more refined presentation, it's a nice speaker but I say go with the orignal 2.
Sorry, my Response 2 are not for sale, but they do come up on Audiogon every now and then.
