While its true that for many of us, videos are just adverts, some people see them as product in their own right.
So if YouTube or whoever allow them as a means of getting people to be exposed to paid adverts and thus generate income, then a royalty should be paid for their use.
Personally I hardly ever look at YouTube for the same reason I have little time for MySpace... a huge amount of rubbish bearing more similarities to commercial TV than any alternative.
The little content I might find interesting is far too difficult to locate.
On the other hand, people pay a premium to carry corporate advertising on clothes so clearly I am from another planet...
