David Byrne-Live at Union Chapel-a two year old DVD-V that I was unaware of. Boy howdy, still the quirky brilliance and stage presence with a tight band. Downside none of the great keyboard work that drove the Talking Heads so well. The 5 string bass is strong throughout the set but he does not have the same loping feel that Tina Weymouth has and he damn sure does not look as cool as she does in SMS.
He plays some old favorites from the Heads and some newer material. The setting is unreal, it appears to be a old church. Super sharp video work and a killer sound from the DVD. Watching David dance is like seeing a mongoose w/o the cobra. He looks either very healthy and fit or awfully ill from not eating, you make the call. He also has the grace to explain what inspired each of the songs, a wonderful dip into the creativity and thinking of the artist.
This DVD belongs and deserves to share a space on the shelf next to Stop Making Sense. Strongly recommended.
