I've made it clear in this thread that I first heard Rush in the late 1970s & never read anything much about them until recently. I saw that piece for the first time less than two months ago, the quote from the book last year. That the interview is 25 years old has no bearing that I can see on why I posted it, which was to show you that the idea that Peart has never spoken ill of anyone or anything is quite false. You're the guy who held up Peart as a 'role model' & don't seem willing to back off yr assertion that he has never spoken ill of anyone or anything.
Had you not said that, do you actually think I would've even brought this up?
Calling Paul McCartney a 'prostitute' is not something that keeps me from liking a band. Seeing someone held up for idol worship when it flies in the face of the truth is something I find worth commenting on.
If you wish you believe that I'd base my judgment of music on what someone said about the Rolling Stones, or any of his other comments, you are welcome to that, but this is akin to calling me a liar, to which I take grave exception.
Perhaps in yr world criticizing the Brill Building because prog rock is so 'honest' or something makes sense, but not in mine. And trust me, as much as I differ with that assessment, if I liked the band, it wouldn't prevent me from enjoying their music. If you'd like for me to list examples of bands whose music I like in spite of criticisms that I deem ridiculous that they've offered on music, I will be happy to provide them.
Short of that, you're not backing off the construction of the pedestal you've constructed for Peart, which amounts to an inability to admit when you're wrong.
Why can't you just go & listen to yr Rush records & drop it already? If not, then please tell me why anyone should consider his criticisms of pop music or the Rolling Stones valid in any way, shape, or form.
