Let's start off with, I hate Dire Straights and Mark Knopfler. I don't think he can sing, and his guitar playing is overrated. That being said, this double CD is a knockout!!!
Soundboard bootleg, professionally mixed.
What makes it special, to even ME?
GOOD sound. Audience nice and loud in between songs, silent during most, except quiet passages. The seuge from Sailing to Romeo is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!
It sounds more real than any live CD I have ever heard; It is so realistic I even started yelling requests!!
A couple of times I started yelling at people in the crowd to shut the F up!!
Great musicians in his band, and a killer set list.
Also, the CD's are unedited so instead of the usual ten seconds of cheering before the encore, they let the crowd go for two minutes so you really do not know, "Is there going to be an encore?". I make people listen without the set list so each song is a surpirse and it is a surprise if and when Knopfler comes back for an encore and (SPOILER)........starts those chilling notes that begin Brothers in Arms. YEAH!!!! If I had a lighter I would light it and hold it in the air!!
Also, there is the great predictable moment of suspense, since he plays that acoustic guitar for Romeo and Juliet, which sounds damn good, will he play that haunting end part? With the call and refrain echo? Do dah do dah!!! (to the tune of "You and me babe" ) How will he play that if he is playing an acoustic? And WTF is the name of that metal guitar anyway, I always forget? What will he do?
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, oh yeah!!!
Anyway, search the web, you will find it. Its blaring right now in the home DUI built, and Knopflers voice is shot but Speedway at Nazareth (I never heard of that tune) sounds damn fine. I have listened to this CD 4 times since Monday, and it rocks, and still sounds good!! (Beatles Love is on the shelf :-( )Here is the track list for those that have no patience...
