These aren't all professionally recorded, even raw soundboards! The description from Spin CDs suggests that these recordings "come from a variety of sources" which probably means some were derived from 2nd & 3rd generation copies of soundboard tapes or boots of soundboard tapes with 'problems' and even amateur audience recordings. The fact that this has been 'licensed' for release from Michael Jeffrey's estate (only available as an import) and since it hasn't been mentioned on the Official Hendrix site strongly suggests that this issue lacks the legal 'blessings' (aka U.S. licensing) from Experience Hendrix. Keeping that in mind one might be inclined to expect questionable quality.
BTW, unlike bootlegs, which are intentionally grey market, aimed at collectors and often presented with a great deal of competitive pride, this appears to be a highly profit oriented venture with limited numbering to maximize profits QUICKLY and (apparently) with more than a little deception behind it. Of course I can't say this for certain, but even the site selling this item has caveats in place!
I strongly recommend reading the description of this offering in the link below & careful consideration before purchasing. Note: If this were a bootleg product, it might be more interesting based on some of the high-quality grey market items I've come across over the years, but I see red flags here.
- Read the description on the pre-order form carefully and remember that the conversion rate makes this cost over $71.00 (Open in New Window)
