Tremendous singer. Tremendous.
I saw him early this year and he was... well, he came onstage amd sang a couple of notes to check the mike and was as far out of tune as me after 2 bottles of wine. Then the band started and he was as good as I had expected.
Strange.
The album is great. I heard it a bit on the radio and suddenly realised what it reminded me of... Nina Simone.
Its as if his sexuality and what he has put up with has put him in a similar position to being black in the USA back into the first half of the 20th century and he has developed what I can only really describe as the gospel of sexuality.
The album is at least a must hear. Right from the start it could tear your heart out.
