Home Rocky Road

From Classic Rock to Progessive to hip hop to today's hot new tunes!

Ummm, I don't know about their concerts, but I seem to recall a recent news report that their music sales went up.

This may seem contradictory, but it's entirely possible that they've reached a new audience which likes country music, isn't turned off by their freely expressed opinons about a wrong-headed Administraztion and his misguided war policies, but isn't into going to live concerts.

Of course the country music crowd may be too anal in their narrowly defined view of patriotism to appreciate impassioned anti-war dissent, even when the basis for going to war was bogus information. I just don't see how any reasonable person, musician or fan, can justify maintaining a military presence when the American public was intentionally deceived.

I hate to stereotype and I hope that I'm wrong here, but I'm left with the unavoidable impression that a great many country music fans and the musicians they idolize tend to blindly follow in lock-step behind anything they perceive as pro-American flag waving, even when it isn't justified and the President in charge is a friggin' idiot.

So, bottom line, I guess it's entirely possible that the Dixie Chicks have turned off some of their audience. Nevertheless, even though I don't care much for country music I applaud their standing up for their Constitutionally protected beliefs.

Sorry if this comes across as a bit too political for Rocky Road, but since the issue was brought up in a political context, that's my take on it.
