Marshall,For PURE rock and roll - the epitome of the genre - I'll choose "Ram" over anything. Only "Let It Be" comes close and maybe a handful on non-L/M artists.
McCartney's 1st album is truly under-rated but against B.O.T.R., it lacks diversity (however, I can easily see someone making the contrary case: it's more coherent. True, too).
