I've been listening to it a lot lately. It's as much deserving to be a hit now as it was then. Has all the elements of a great catchy pop song. I'm not a real Michael fan at all but they made a great team in '83. People always write off this period for Macca and they're wrong. Paul McCartney isn't Brian Eno, Vince Neil or Bob Dylan or whoever you think is "cool". Paul McCartney is and was a pop songwriter who writes about love and positivity. He always has. That's who he is and it appeals to me. Some people call it sappy. I call it food for the soul. Pipes of Peace is a great album and a breath of fresh air for anyone who's fed up with what's "cool". Some music is supposed to just make you feel good. That's what kind of music McCartney writes. Remember, he's a "pop" songwriter. Although he's written his share of rockers, it's ballads and babies all the way.
