I agree. If the record is cleaned on a good machine and rigorously polished when the preservative is added, noise levels are not appreciably increased and the record is far less prone to developing a static charge (which attracts dust) and seems to suffer no deterioration with age.

Since I have not encountered a used record with the last label on it, I don't know if they are generally better or worse than average in condition. I would expect that anyone who would subject themselves to the considerable expense and pain-in-the-ass procedure would also be careful in their handling of their records.
