These are just sensational in terms of video quality. All are anamorphic widescreen, taken (I think) from hi-def masters. Sound quaity varies a bit, owing to the 'live' recording conditions, but is generally quite fine. I don't have a 5.1 surround setup--I try to listen to the stereo PCM tracks when available. Great performances as well.Verdi: Rigoletto - Covent Garden (BBC Opus Arte)
Cecilia Bartoli - Live in Italy (Decca)
Verdi: Falstaff - Covent Garden (BBC Opus Arte) - kind of muffled sound, but quite serviceable nevertheless; video is eye-popping
Verdi: Requiem - Abbado (EMI)
Adams: El Nino (Arthaus Musik)
Poulenc: Dialogues of the Carmelites (Arthaus Musik)
Berlioz: Damnation of Faust (Arthaus Musik)And here's a wonderful symphonic program:
Sinopoli/Dresden Staatskapelle: Live Concert from the Semper Opera House (featuring Strauss's Alpine Symphony) - great sound!!!
