This is a very nice date. Similar to Mode For Joe but obviously not as fiery. Shim plays more Joe than Joe played himself :) Roy Hargrove? Where has he been? What a waste of talent. Heard him on the Roy Haynes which I found to be flat session and wondered why isn't he further along? I know some of the reasons why but his last two or three releases have been awful. His last group was supposed to be very very good but I don't think they ever recorded. Maybe there is a live session in the can. I love his playing but his recent output has not been memorable. I still listen to the Vibe however.
