Riding with the King

Ok so Im sure the Cd and probably now the DVD-A has already been talked about. I liked the album when it came out on cd, I bought it first for posterity, and second because it was a good album. I love both Eric Clapton and BB King, I have seen them in concert before, seperatly, but still. So I get this album, and I think the blending, though a bit raw at times, is great. The two of them have very different styles, in some ways they dont compliment each other well at all, yet together the emotion and soul that was let out on the album is amazing and does make it all good. So anyway, my point of this post is that while at the local Best Buy I picked up the DVD-A disc of it. This is actually the first DVD-A disc I have bought and the first time I heard it in my house. Im a big vinyl fan, so rushing out to get one was not important, I had heard DVD-A and SACD both played basicly at there best and then compared with Vinyl at close to its best. All the same material. I have listened to these three formats repeatedly. These new Highrez formats are all superior to CD, but I still think they are missing something. But to my point, the Riding with the King album is great. I through it in and though WOW, this sounds great, but how does it compare to the cd. I always thought the CD was a great recording. So I threw that in, listened to a bunch of tracks, then went back to the cd. Then I got my Cd Player going and my DVD-A at the same time at the same point, that was hard, and tried switching back and forth. Man, my dvd-a unit is a pioneer Elite, its not exactly the best available, but the sound of the DVD-A had such a better sound in compared tot he cd its rediculous. The guitar playing was that much more real, the emotions were poored onto my floor, the soundstage became more concrete and real. It was great, Im actually listening right now as I type this, and its giving me the chills, its that good. So if anyone likes this album, has the ability to play DVD's or better DVD-A's, and doesnt own the album, I recomend you get, its good stuff.
