Good question. I often think of some of these "genre exceptions" as guilty pleasures, but there are quite a few.I am also not much of a country fan, but love Chet Atkins (when he wasn't doing pop tunes) Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's "Circle...Unbroken", Willie Nelson, and instrumental bluegrass ("Strictly Instrumental"--Doc Watson, Flat & Scruggs is great. But when those guys start to sing, I leave the room.) I also like the new Allison Kraus.
The only other "genres" of music I really don't care for are hip-hop and any rock bands whose funny costumes or makeup or stage show is more important than their music. I haven't found any exceptions there yet.
