Apparently, no one found that boring. Infact, every thought it was the thrill of the centuries (last one and this one).I've stated and repeated what's occured to me this past summer several times (see the post "Jazz Happens", and several others). Long story short, while I've listened to jazz all of my life, I've not, until this summer, fallen into it as if into a black hole. I've nearly stopped listening to anything else.
As to the era, it just seems to fit the feeling of the moment. I'm familiar with all eras of jazz, including the present. But, hard bop is where I'm taken at present, so I follow. Most of the music, with the exception of Miles Smiles, I barely heard before, or it's new. So, I'm filling in gaps and building a foundation.
Incidentally, I was pretty interested in jazz in the late 80s, when it seemed to be really cooking. Michel Pet - wow! Brilliance, indeed!
