Saw Thigpen several times in the 80s; once he was playing behind
Roger Kellaway, who called a piece in 5/4 time. Thigpen snapped
to attention immediately and looked straight at Kellaway like he'd
been smacked in the face with something. But he played it just
perfect, counting every measure very quietly to himself.Thigpen certainly must be counted among the very best drummers. And
Brown? Well, he might have a future in jazz ...Mike
