Powell's catalogue is limited as well as lack of reissue could be that Audiophile labels avoided them due to less than stellar recording quality. I don't have facts in front of me but some of the Amazing Bud Powell albums are either pre Van Gelder days or even if it was early Gelder recordings of piano sound like covered by a blanket. This can be said for Erroll Garner, too. ( another of my fave ) Also both players sang along the tunes which many cant stand. I don't mind that at all. It gives humanity!
It's sad to see how young he was when he died. ( only 41! )
I wish that Music Matters redid this Vol.1 Amazing Bud Powell.
Music Matters did a marvelous job reissuing the Scene Changes ( finally no mud! ) but the program wise, I prefer his earlier releases.
