was a GREAT label, sometimes with big surprises. this is one. Don Sebesky is perhaps one of the biggest reasons for this. this was an era that straddled the 'sweetened with strings' tunes dominated (vide the charlie parker with strings album) and the modern jazz era.
this has long been one of my favorite albums period and a fave of the CTIs, and there are many of those, wes montgomery-a day in the life. sebesky is the common thread with personnel lists that many times had the same circle of players----herbie hancock, ron carter, airto moreira, and MANY more.
an exploration of CTI recordings would be a rewarding one.
