I've read other people raving about the Grimiaux. I bought the CD set.
The violin is front and center and the harpsichord is somewhere in the background. The problem is that the harpsichord has lots of counterpoint that relates to the violin. I pretty much couldn't hear what was going on.
I have the Laredo/Gould but Gould's playing, and I am a fan, is so bizarre in this case that it really doesn't cut it.
I need a recording that close mics the harpsichord or one with piano.
Recommendations?
