This is really been a thorn in my side for several years. Finally found an example that illustrates the issue. Please watch and listen to this youtube video of Schnittke's Sonata for Cello and Piano.
Here is the issue. The piano is clearly positioned on the right half of the stage. Easily seen/heard on the right half of the soundstage. Then, at exactly minute 1:52, there is a key strike on the piano that clearly audible on the far LEFT channel (audibly). It is as if the piano key strike is out of phase somehow. I listened to this on both my computer and my audio system. That one single key strike / note is played on the far left channel.
Why is this? Is it a phasing issue? Nothing else changed in the soundstage. On many many piano recordings, this same type of issue appears and I would like an explanation, if you have one, please.
Thanks in advance, Pat.
