Just got a handsome 12 lp set of Rubinstein's Chopin and it sounds as if some of the tapes have seen better days.
The music seems to fade in and out a bit during the central lyrical sections of the Scherzi; it's most noticeable (and disappointing) during the meltingly-beautiful central section of the 4th Scherzo.
Otherwise, the Nocturnes, Ballades and Waltzes surpassed my expectations. Crystal clear and stable. Love the ultra-quiet German vinyl.
Please someone check for me? If it's a universal problem, I won't need to search for better copies. Thanks.
