The baby boomers are the first generation in history to grow up with recorded music (potentially of excellent quality) always available. This does eventually lead to the "nothing new under the sun" phenomenon, where it becomes harder and harder to sound original. I'm sure I don't have to spell out all the logical (or fanciful) consequences of this.
