I dont know of any books (others here will help you with that.If you are just starting out I would suggest that you start off easy,some of the jazz can take a while to understand.I started off with Joe Pass, Kenny Burrell,&Wes Montgomery.(all guitarists) & Coleman Hawkings & Ben Webster Lester Young (tenor sax) Plenty of others, these are all nice to listen to with lots of soul & good sound.It's a bit hard starting off with the greats (Parker,Coltrane,etc)as they sound too out there untill you learn more about Jazz.The first thing you will learn is that Kenny G aint Jazz aint even music.Good luck
