In other words you file you discs/albums according to composer in alphabetical order. And within that catagory, you then file according to composer or orchestra/symphony-also in alphabetical order. Then have a Misc catagory for those hard to cataloge items and if you have alot of certain types of albums-such as the living stereo or the 101 strings then you have a special catagory for those. Make them a seperate "genre" and start all over from there in the same fashion. It's how it done at the library. I know, I used to work at the public library in my home town.

At least that should make sense... ...Shouldn't it???

I'd also recommend getting dividing cards-such as flat pieces of cardboard w/ a letter on each one to divide the catalog by a, b, c, etc. A plastic coated card(s) to slip into the slot where the album/CD has been taken out is a good idea too.

I have my albums organized and I believe cataloged, but need to subdivide them more and my 45's are only partialy alphabetized and cataloged... Really though, I should make a list of what I've bought and add those to the database ASAP after purchase to cut down on the backlog...

But I really need to get something like MS excell or Access or simular program to keep track of my collection as it grows.

John.
