Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

Oldies, but goodies...3 I listened to last night!

While I was at work we were whiling away a slow Saturday singing old songs, hence the choices made below:

I had forgotten how well crafted the songs on "American Pie" were! If one wanted to introduce Van the Man (Gogh, not Morrison) to someone, playing 'Starry, Starry Nights' while looking at the paintings would not be a half bad idea!

Listening to Neil Diamond's "Tap Root Manuscript" I had forgotten how well crafted the "African Trilogy" on side 2 is. Absolutely beautiful! World Music at least 15 years before anyone else "thought" of it! Even though my original copy shows signs of wear (a tad noisy) the sound is remarkable, too!

Recorded at 30 inches per second, into 2 channels with no mixing, "Will the Circle be Unbroken" is a wonderful recording! The level of musicianship is beyond compare! I am not a big country-western fan by ANY means, but I'd bet there are few "musicians" in the country scene today that could hold a candle to the people collected for that album!

It is all your fault, you are a bad influence! I find, that instead of just walking to the shelves and randomly selecting the music I wish to listen to, I'm now planning my listening hours during the day at work, or lurking here to see what everyone else is listening to and taking that as an impetus! Gone, gone are those carefree days...my last bastion of childishness...and it's all YOUR fault!
