artists who are still alive, and who sound like it" ??? Hell, if
I did that, then I'd be limited to James Carter and a couple of
other current jazz players, otherwise I'd be listening to no one
but the old guys (Eldridge(!), Hawkins, Lester, Tatum, Hines,
Louis A, Parker, etc.)! Well, that's who I listen to anyway, because
they DO sound like they are alive.I think John and I are a lot alike. We see what is happening in the
world and it pisses us off. Royally, sometimes. What is especially
annoying to me is that people in my age group and income bracket
have A LOT OF MONEY TO SPEND, but the damn retailers cater to the
head bangers who are lucky to have enough money to buy their next
hit of whatever designed drug is on the streets this week.Getting old and cranky.
