Wow, I really envy you, Steve Lacy is one of my favorite, but leaving in Cape Town at the bottom of Africa the chance of seing him live would be a miracle, my favorite Lacy cd's are the one he did with Mal waldron in 1981
at the Dreher Hall in Paris, it is a 4cd's set on the HatArt label these 2
telephatic playing and commitment is just incredible.
In Cape Town the jazz scene is improving slightly, at the end of the month
we hosting a jazz festival, amongst the musicians visiting this year,
are Kenny Garrett, Roy Hargrove, Herboe Hancock, so I suppose I should not complain, but I love music a bit more creative such as Lacy.
The only modern group I had the pleasure to see in Cape Town, was Thomas Chapin about 6 years ago, his death was a real tragedy
