this is difficult for me, but you've given me courage, Rob. i would like to admit before god and man that i, patrick S, Dept. of Sanitation (Bruckner Div.) own a set of the Beethoven piano concertos by Alfred Brendel and James Levine and, christ, does it really make a difference who the orchestra is? think Screaming Skull. that's right, the Chicago at their thunderous unsubtle best. i actually paid for this set, on vinyl, and any attempt to explain this purchase would only suggest mental illness; as you might imagine, it is horrible beyond description. yet, there exists a set which i suspect may be even worse, possibly much worse, than this: Serkin and Ozawa. Ozawa! be there man or beast with the cojones to venture into those forbidding depths of interprative (deleted)? may Cruijff have mercy on your soul.i think i feel better for having unburdened myself like this.
