Okay, I dont necessarily endorse this statement, but I could not help but think of Rob when I encountered it on the back of a CD of Wagner overtures and preludes conducted by Solti. It was stated baldly without justification, elaboration, or qualification. There it was, just siting there all alone. No introduction, no context. So I present it to you now for your consideration, and/or amusement. Well, without further ado, here it is:"Sir Georg Solti was the greatest Wagner conductor of the twentieth century!"
