Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

for decades I hated that one "because there was no driver on the top"

Now it's one of my favorites. She's alot smarter than I am, and knows best what's good for me. She set me up, taught me to love jazz vocalists by puttin that song at the end of what I consider her best work, and forcing me to here it over and over thru the decades.

My most hated LP/song is "Night Ride Home" with that digital cricket on the title track. I could be a serial killer if I ever had to hear that again. What was she thinking?

She's always been an intelligent singer, I can't wait to see where she's taking me next. I'd rank her with Frank Sinatra for phrasing--below Frank, but in that class.

Nobody can phrase a song like Frank. Don't believe it? Put on a record of his that you know very well--like "New York New York" or "MY Way", and try to sing along. Can't do it can you? He don't care where those notes appear in spacetime--he has his own drummer to follow. He's not called the Chairman of the Board for nothin'.

Another favorite: Nat King Cole. Gotta listen carefully to all his work to appreciate he was alot more than a popular singer with a killer voice.
The DCC reissues of his works are some of the best recordings money can buy.
