According to Naxos' Heymann:

"If you look at all the [classical] music catalogs, you come to the conclusion that there are about 1.5 million hours of music composed, but only about 60,000 CDs of unduplicated repertoire out in the market. That leaves 1.44 million hours of material yet to be recorded."

Note: I considered, as he did, that a CD contains 1 hour of music. Of course it can contain normally up to 74 minutes, but who's counting?
