OK here is one to chew on. I attended a performance two years ago by a band called "The Musical Box". They are a Canadian group who recreate the Selling England by the Pound tour Genesis put on 26 years ago.
Some of us here love the old Genesis music - it can move you to emotional aural bliss if you allow it. Some of us here also were never able to see the real Genesis perform these old tunes. TMB to the rescue!
If you truly love certain pieces of music, and get to hear it live, you know what it can do to your psyche.
When I saw/heard this performance, I was in heaven on earth. They played the material flawlessly and with so much passion it was incredible. And everyone in the theatre was spellbound. I mean - nobody moved or yelled or stomped during the show - except in between songs, where rampant excitement reigned. Talk about musical appreciation - we were extatic.
I really cannot describe the expierience with words - you would have to be a Genesis fan to understand.
I was not permanantely spiritually transformed, but I assure you this - those of us there that night experienced a rare occasion where the "buzz" and "aura" of the performance left us drained at the end.
If this band ever comes to your city, and you are a Genesis fan, you MUST attend. We still talk about that show to this day! You will not no way ever be disappointed. They are THAT good. You will be spiritually transformed, at least for a while, and the smile on your face will shine brightly.
