Mehta's got so much experience with the piece and the NYP has even more experience so guess it was pretty coherent. Great my expectation on Larsson came trough, I've been keeping my eye on her for a while now and a recording of Mahler 2 could give her worldwide recognition. I only hope Mehta deepened his interpretation since his recording with the Israel Philharmonic, but guess he did reading the reactions you describe in the hall and that's quite rare.I still have to experience my first live Mahler 2, should have visited Gergiev conducting the Rotterdam, but I couldn't get tickets and I'm afraid Chailly's interpretation is a lot like Kaplan's, who should have been present as well:-)
Didn't see Beethoven 7 with Masur in the shop yet....
