There are many recorded gems from the Martinon era in Chicago that should be re-released, for example an absolutely stunning Bizet Symphony in C. Unfortunately, his tenure with the CSO was clouded by the fact that the musicians hated him, also because Martinon precipitated the infamous firing of Ray Still. When the story hit the newspapers, that probably turned audiences against Martinon and sealed his 'fate'.
But does that take away from his accomplishments as a conductor, or justify the total neglect of his recordings on the part of RCA? I don't think so.
