Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

Nathan Davis

ND has been mentioned here before. Thanks to those who brought him up.

Based on the mentions here, picked up the recent 2 LP reissue ''65 - '76' on Jazzman records, a Brit firm if I read the cover correctly. A compilation of his four LPs released between those years, this package is beautifully done in all aspects. Having never heard the original LPs (hoping that'll change soon), it seems some of the tracks may have been edited somewhat to squeeze as much music as possible on this release. But I could be wrong. Even if this is so, it doesn't reduce my enjoyment one iota.

If you enjoy Roland Kirk, Yusef Lateef or the more melodic side of Pharoah Sanders, do yourself a favor and check ND out. Very creative, modern stuff, excellently played. Stretches out quite a bit without going over the line to free jazz. Later tracks veer a touch to funk and fusion, but never too much. Just enjoying the crap outta this.

Check hin out, have you a chance.
