Gustav Mahler - Symphonic Poem in Two Parts (the original version of the Symphony No. 1) -- Premier.
New England Conservatory Philharmonia, Hugh Wolff, conductor
Concert performance from Sept. 26, 2011, at Jordan Hall in Boston
Not only are there differences in the orchestration, as one would expect, but also there are some five minutes of additional music, mostly in the finale. Plus the Blumine movement.
The performance is sprightly and enjoyable, quite apart from the curiosity interest. And the orchestra is all-student.
I just heard the radio rebroadcast, so I hope the download sounds okay.
P.A.
