My theater is 80 miles away. No biggie.
The point that I did not make strongly enough is that the performance is LIVE. Things can happen (no editing!) and sometimes do. This is the frisson of live performance that I enjoy plus, you get live interviews during the intermissions that include a lot of backstage action, sets moving, stuff getting repaired and those interviews with the principals, conductor, costumers, director, insight into the technical aspects, ie. the 3D Forest Bird they invented(!).
The sound is O.K.+, not great but endurable for what you get to see. Sorry yours is unacceptable.
Upside is you get to preview the DVD in it's raw state. But, I hear you about Wagner. Too much can be a little too much. Next up is a Glass opera on 11/19. I'm nervous.
Cheers, my opera friend from down under.
