I have just taken possession of two Bruckner Symphony No 4s: Böhm, Vienna PO Decca and Barenboim, Chicago Symphony DG.
You want a 4th with cojones?... Barenboim, … elegance? Böhm. The famous Chicago brass never sounded better and DG did a good job capturing this orchestra, one of the best sounding DGs in my collection. The Decca recording is a wee bit congested in the tutties, while the DG maintains transparency and richness.
