It seems like what's promoted isn't necessarily the best talent period, but the "best" talent with attractiveness attached..........
I mean, it would be nice to see an attractive woman violinist perform at a level of a Joseph Lendvay, but I guess what matters is a specific listener's priorities.......... [-;
I've always thought Ayako Uehara had the chops, but is not exactly Julia Fischer when it comes to attractiveness......... The only attractive woman musician who really blows me away with incredible chops is not a classical musician, but a rock bassist named Gabriela Vega. (People have asked me if the pic below was touched up or enhanced in any way, and the answer is "no"....... )
