The conveyor-belt of new babe musicians continues apace!



Pianist Oxana Shevchenko, 24-year-old Winner of the 2010 Scottish International Piano Competition in September 2010. The CD above looks as if it's already available in the UK (Gramophone Editor's Choice) and will be available in the US next month. Repertoire is a bit unusual, including the Liszt/Busoni "Marriage of Figaro Fantasy" rather than the "Don Juan Fantasy", as well as the Mozart Allegro, K. 400, plus some Shostakovitch Preludes (and one Prelude and Fugue from Op. 87) - I could do without the Shostakovitch myself. The YT video performance of Ravel's "La Valse" below seems pretty darn good from what I can tell.
