fans of the historical works will always be there, sometimes more, sometimes less. There's another "stream" in the doom prophesy at work here, however. The "fountain" is almost bone dry. Very few new works, even fewer performances of those new works, and even LESS awareness of these new works by audiences. Classical music is in deep trouble (I can't imagine everyone doesn't agree on that). New fans will arise, but will they seek out new compositions (and will there be any available)? That is not clear.
