My ordered 3/8 is yet to come, but I listened to 9th and compared it to several other performances. I like it, especially the choral movement. It is coherent, which I cannot say about many other performances. Vanska approaches Beethoven as he would approach Sibelius: every voice in the orchestra is distinctly heard, and balance is phenomenal. It is nothing like Toscanini or Furtwangler, but it is indeed a new insight. And SACD sound... I am finding I don't want to listen to CDs any more.
