Looking back a ways, do you have any of Marian McPartland's records? Art Tatum, JoAnn Brackeen, McCoy Tyner......?>>Haven't listened to Art in a while, never really listened to Marian (good point there). If my memorey is correct I once sat in with JoAnn for a few tunes which was very nice (I'm a bass player). Haven't really listened to much solo or trio McCoy. Love his really early work with 'Trane round the time of "But not for me" - I don't think he did anything much better in terms of taste. There's loads of pianists I like - I'm looking for some impressive recent solo and trio CDs mostly. I still love Ahmad Jamal live - and what a gent, last time I saw him he went round and gave all the waitresses a fat tip on his last night. That's something else.
